Frequently Asked Questions

What times of the year do you operate?

We operate from mid-December until mid-March depending upon climatic conditions.

For ice driving, typically 1- 3 days.  This largely depends upon whether you share the car or have exclusive use.  If you share a car then the general feedback is that 1 day is fantastic but you leave wanting more.  2 days is about right, but often people want to try a different car if they were to stay longer.  We get the most positive feedback from those sharing a car and spending 3 days, usually driving more than one car.  Most people demonstrate significant progress in their skills on the second or third day.

Think about mixing up the driving with other activities, and not do several days in succession.  There are lots of other activities to be enjoyed in the area and make the most of your time in Sweden.  Why not come for a week, and a enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Yes, it is mentally challenging.  We suggest to break up the day into 20 minute sessions with a break after each.  Particularly during the initial learning stage, the concentration requirement is high.

Remember when you learned to drive and you thought it was brilliant but a lot to take in?  It’s like that.

Our instructors will guide you, and give you time to rest and consolidate your learning.

If you are a novice, we would suggest you share the car with someone else, which gives you a break from driving at regular intervals, or do half-day sessions.

All you need is a UK/EU/international driving licence for a car with a manual gearbox car. This licence is to ensure that you understand the principles of operating a car, and able to use the clutch and gears.

Yes, it is a lot like drifting, particularly with a rear-wheel drive car, but unlike drifting, sometimes all four wheels are sliding sideways. Ice Driving is more akin to rallying, but with no trees to crash into.

If you don’t yet have a licence, please talk to us. If you are under 17, but have already driven in a motorsport activity, please contact us to discuss your requirements. We are keen to support young drivers and help them gain the invaluable skills for both road, rally and track.

Anyone under the age of 18 will need a responsible adult present during the activities.

Absolutely. If you live in England or Wales, you know the chaos on the roads when it snows. It quickly brings the country to a near standstill, and you see lots of tentative drivers on the road.

Our novice ice driving experience will teach you all about what happens when a car skids in slippery conditions, and what actions to take. Our aim is to give you skills and confidence to venture out in slippery conditions without trepidation.

In fact, we would like to take you on the journey from being tentative, to being able to drift in complete control, with style.

Absolutely. And more. This is a safe and controlled environment to learn how to do doughnuts and control the car whilst sliding. We will teach you the techniques of ‘drifting’ where the car is constantly sliding, but you remain in total control.

Absolutely. Ice Driving requires a different skill set, and a new set of techniques to learn. The finesse we see from those who have raced or done track days is invaluable, but the fastest way around a circuit is not to slide the car. On the ice the opposite is the case, so the art of drifting needs to be developed. Many professional circuit racers cite Ice Driving as a key skill which enhances their circuit driving, especially when driving in the wet.

You’ll be at home with our instructors, some of whom are still active circuit racing competitors.
